In developing Villa Daiquiri, we had a belief that there was a huge market that was underserved for destination weddings and medium sized meeting/event space. The number one challenge anywhere to planning a wedding or event is cost. When you wish it to be a destination wedding, the costs can skyrocket. This usually means the number of guests needs to be limited. We aim to be a DISRUPTER in this market.
Currently there are three main choices for a destination wedding. A large extremely expensive resort, a limited resource motel/wedding venue, or renting a house and doing everything yourselves. Villa Daiquiri enables a better than 5 STAR experience at a dramatically lower price point.
How do we compete with other choices? Number 1 is that you have the choice of services you wish us to provide. Our primary service is providing a venue with the top amenities you expect. Then we offer a list of services from local specialists that you may pick and choose as your requirements and budget dictate. None are full time staff which need to be on payroll fulltime. Or you supply your own. We can supply a wedding planner or use your own. Photographer/Videographer/Florist -We have top notch people, but if Uncle Joe wants to be official photographer, it's your event.
BEVERAGE SERVICE - Number one savings is in liquor and beverage service. We do not sell beverages by the drink or bottle. You purchase (we facilitate) whatever and how much liquor, beer, and drinks you choose. Is your group specialty single malt scotch drinkers or bourbon aficionados? You want the top of the top shelf? Bring your own specialty liquors. Costa Rica has one of the most liberal duty free spirits import laws in the world! Every adult may bring in 5 liters of spirits each! There is a duty free store at the airport BEFORE you go through customs. We have a local microbrewery which can supply a choice of great beers. Do you want to pay $3.00 for a bottle of water at a resort? The cost difference on beverages alone between Villa Daiquiri and a large resort can pay for the rest of the wedding! We supply bartenders and set-ups, you purchase the beverages.
LOCATION - Villa Daiquiri is located ONLY 25 minutes from LIR - Daniel Oduber International Airport with direct flights from several cities in USA & Canada. I have travelled and resorted all over the world. One of my pet peeves (especially in the tropics) is after a multi-hour flight, immigration, customs, and baggage, you are escorted to transport that waits until multiple parties show up. Then the trip takes another 1 - 3 hours to arrive at your destination! Bad enough for arrival, but tacking on those extra hours to get to the airport two hours before your return flight is brutal. Our private vans shuttle your group to Villa D before your beverage gets warm! Fun Fact to know. Why does a small country like Costa Rica have two large international airports? LIR is not the capitol city. The basis for originally building LIR was done by Lt. Colonel Oliver North and the CIA to run guns to the Contras in neighboring Nicaragua in the 1980's. Early LIR was featured in the movie American Made, starring Tom Cruise. With our proximity to the airport, we can arrange transportation large or small so minimum of people need to rent cars.
Privacy - You are not sharing the venue with anyone else. What happens at your event or pool party is your business! Only one check-in and out. No lines. On-site caretakers are there to facilitate your event, not dictate rules.
Small venues or homes - They just don't have the location or facilities to ensure a smooth event. Number 1 issue (especially close to the beach) PARKING! We have parking in excess of 50 cars. Kitchen - commercial 6 burner stove, double ovens, griddle, 100lb a day icemaker, and two large refrigerators.
Accommodations - Villa Daiquiri sleeps up to 15 people in 6 bedrooms and 6 1/2 baths (including pool bath) plus an outdoor shower to rinse off coming from beach. Large enough for at least one family! 25 more hotel rooms within 50 yards. An additional 40 more rooms within 250 yards. We also have a sister property SUN MONKEY (3 minute drive) up on a hill. Sleeps up to 18.

Tent sizes available = 30' (9.144 M) x 50' (15.24 M) up to 170 guests. OR 30' (9.144 M) x 40' (12.192M) up to 130 guests. OR 30' (9.144 M) x 30' (9.144 M) = 90 guests. The Number of guests will vary depending on table size (stand-up cocktail, rectangular, or round) and seating density. The placement of bars, dance floor, and food tables, etc. also affect seating capacity. Due to Villa Daiquiri's layout, food/appetizer/dessert buffets, gift, and guest book tables are usually placed inside; freeing up valuable space for seating, dance floor, or special purpose. Three porches + fixed interior bar, again provide ample space for bar service. Commercial lighted, portable bars are available for your placement choice. These tents are best quality for ocean exposure. All are Frame tents which means there are NO center poles. This provides very open concept with maximum flexibility for your preferred layout. NO blocked views or chair shuffling! Seating charts are difficult enough without having to pick who is stuck behind the poles or siting special event. Other tent sizes are available for the Ceremony. Side curtains are available. We have a mixture of cathedral window (pictured), solid (to hide walls, or clear for best ocean view. curtains are typically rolled up and deployed due to weather or to create a more intimate event. Sturdy flooring raised above moisture is available. This Picture is accurate representation, but not our actual tent.
Best quality floor for secure placement of Bridal party, tables, chairs, bar, DJ, and dance floor. No heels sinking into grass even with moisture underneath. Again notice how your layout is not affected by poles! No obstructed view of bridal party or head table. Provides maximum flexibility for your preferred layout. The same flooring for reception tent is available in a 60' (18.3 M) walkway. Again providing maximum stability for bride and guests.

Many of our inquiries are looking for the ceremony to be conducted on the sand beach itself. It is available, but most (especially larger groups) eventually decide to have the ceremony BEACHFRONT, but on the grass. What you want for an event (especially a WEDDING) is predictability and minimal downsides for the unplanned. A tent for the ceremony is not required. But whether the weather is hot and sunny or in the months with unpredictable stray showers, an extra tent removes issues. With beach you need to plan around ocean tide patterns as to how much beach will be there at the time of day you select. Uneven sand/rocks can plague a stumble of a wedding party participant or older guests. Sand dictates foot apparel for the event.
Patio lights can be extensive or minimal depending on desired effects. Side poles can be draped in fabric to highlight uplighting. Uplights can be programmed for your color scheme or slowly fade to multiple colors during dinner. When the dancing and DJ begins, lights can reprogram to pick up the tempo. Our full service caterer has a wide variety of menus to choose from. Due to the local fishing culture, signature dishes of Jumbo Shrimp, Lobster, Oysters, Lobster Mac & Cheese or fresh fish fillets can be part of a memorable culinary experience at a fraction of the cost at a USA venue. Special touches like carved fruits and exotic cakes are available.
The locally grown exotic flowers are INCREDIBLE! You can splurge on extra flowers at wedding, rehearsal dinner , or event without breaking the bank! Brides back home will be jealous when they see the photos.
The front Porteche is a perfect place for a local band or other entertainment to greet guests. The DJ is usually inside the tent. You create your playlist. Other singers or live dance bands are available.
One of the most repeated errors in an outdoor venue is not having a separate sound system for the ceremony. Near the ocean you need extra speakers and wireless microphones for officiant and bride/groom. You have toiled over the music and your vows. All guests want to hear every word of the ceremony without strain. You want your recording to come out crystal clear especially if you have chosen a videographer!
