Villa Daiquiri is one of the homes of traveling "Troop 2" of local Howler Monkeys. They are seen regularly, especially in our front yard Mango trees. Pictured on one of our "Monkey Bridges". These are installed to keep the monkeys safe above power lines. Capuchin (white faced) are also found in our area and spider monkeys live farther south.
There are 903 known bird species in Costa Rica. Making it a destination for bird watchers. Toucans, Parrots (including the magnificent Scarlet Macaw), Hummingbirds, and the most coveted, Resplendent Quetzal are scattered throughout the country. Look for them while hiking or take a specialized birding tour.
Big cats are nocturnal and rarely seen during the day. They avoid humans. All of the large cats of Costa Rica are available to be seen at a local animal rescue center.
Iguanas are prevalent all over Costa Rica. Quite harmless but please stay away from any wild animals.
